Looking for a quick Super Bowl app? I’ve got you covered, because this one is about as simple as it gets. Just two ingredients here (or three if you want to be extra)!

I’ve been making this easy cheese dip since I was a kid. I watched my mom make it for parties and special gatherings, and before long I could mix it up and throw it in the microwave without assistance. As a kid, I liked the simpler, two-ingredient version because I was a picky eater and turned up my nose at the chiles (They are a vegetable, after all). As an adult, I think the chiles are the best part and I love the added flavor. They are included in these photos, as you can see, but the choice is up to you whether to add them or not!

Velveeta Cheese Dip | Get Sweet Smart

Here’s what you need:

  • A block of Velveeta cheese (You need 16 ounces, but the 32-ounce size is more common in stores – either halve it or double the recipe)
  • A can of no-bean chili
  • A can of green chiles, if you like

That’s it! Two – or three – pantry ingredients that are available almost anywhere. I can usually even find them at my non-grocery Target store. (Let’s be honest, I’ve also ordered everything online and had it shipped to my house so I didn’t have to go to the store at all! 😂)

Melt everything together using your method of choice, keep the dip warm in a Crock-Pot if you’re taking it to a potluck, grab some tortilla chips, and enjoy!

Velveeta Cheese Dip | Get Sweet Smart

 16 oz. block of Velveeta (I usually find it near the canned goods)
 15 oz. can no-bean chili (such as Hormel)
 10 oz. can green chiles, optional
Slice Velveeta into one-inch cubes and place in a slow cooker. Add chili and green chiles, if desired. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours or low for 4 hours, or until cheese has melted. You may need to stir the dip a few times to melt the cheese completely.
Alternatively, place all ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 60 seconds. Stir and continue melting at 20-second intervals until cheese is melted. Serve immediately or transfer to a slow cooker on the “keep warm” setting.
Serve dip with tortilla chips.
