Happy Monday!

My weekend was spent baking Christmas cookies in bulk, the scents of peppermint, eggnog, and gingerbread permeating the kitchen.

Early in the season, I usually bake up as many varieties as possible and pop them into the freezer so they can be eaten throughout the month. By the time Christmas rolls around, I’m usually out of freezer space because…what can I say?

It’s hard to believe that the time has already arrived to stuff ourselves with turkey and eggnog, revisit the miraculous story of Jesus’s birth, and set out cookies for Santa.

I’ve always been an overachiever, though. Blame it on the firstborn gene, but Santa’s getting more than just Pillsbury slice-and-bakes from me this year.

Peanut Butter Krispy Truffles

It was one of those weekends where a full salt shaker landed in my bowl of cookie dough, tainting the whole batch; the peppermint brownies I left in the oven for almost an hour still came out wet and under-baked; and my brother started a fire in the kitchen.

Candy Cane Oreo Truffles

A few weeks ago, I shared one of my favorite Christmas treats, the classic Oreo Truffles. They’re creamy and chocolaty and great for the holidays…but it is possible to make them even more Christmas-y.

Enter Candy Cane Oreos.

These pretty peppermint-flavored cookies usually hit shelves in November and are the perfect seasonal substitute for regular Oreos at Christmastime.
